Our Family Diet

Puppy Diet

Everyone has their opinions and preferences on what and how to feed their puppy.  This is the diet our puppies are on from the start.

During nursing we feed the new mothers Royal Canin Maxi Starter Mother and Babydog Dry Dog Food.  At 3-4 weeks the puppies start exploring and trying the diet themselves.  From 4 weeks to 7.5 weeks the new puppies strickly eat this diet and of course nursing on mommy.

At 7 weeks we start blending the Royal Canin with Eukanuba Large Breed puppy food.  This is the diet I keep the puppies on until the are done with the physical growth.  There are many great food out there and we have stuck with this diet is because it is affordable for all families and it is a quality food.

Our puppies after 8 weeks

After 8 weeks of age our puppies diet changes a little.  They are still on a primary diet of Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy.  We then blend Solid Gold Barking at the Moon and Harvest Blend dry food with the Eukanuba at equal parts.

We also fill a 7 cup dish with the same mix.  Added to this dish is 1 scoop of Solid Gold Seameal.  Then we fill the dish 3/4 up with warm water.

We do not feed our furry family only a couple of times a day.  We leave food down for them all of the time.  This helps prevent Intestinal Twist when a dog eats too fast or over eats.

Homemade Dog Treats

Pumpkin Peanut Butter biscuits

First preheat your oven to 350 degrees

.Full can of pumpkin

.3/4 jar of peanut butter

.4 eggs

.1 cup of oatmeal

.3 cups of whole wheat flour

.1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

.1 tablespoon of honey

with a mixer add the eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, honey and cinnamon.  Mix well then add the oatmeal.  slowly mix in the flour.  Once all combined you have several options.

I put a little flour on a clean surface and flatten out the mix to about 1/2 inch thick.  Use your favorite cookie cutters.

Or you can roll your mix into a long tube.  Cut about every half inch.

Place on cookie sheet and cook for 35 minutes.  Let cool completely and let you fur babies enjoy!
